Hi Thera,

You know how you hate working in an office from 9-5? Well, I can't help you out on that front right this minute since you need the paycheck. However, you would probably do much better if you went to bed a bit earlier. You are desk jockey. You are going to get sleepy midafternoon. But it sucks so much more when you aren't getting much sleep at night.

Use this as motivation to get a tt job next year mmkay? You clearly need more flexibility in your schedule. That's why you went to school for 8 gazillion years to get this degree. Remember? Good. Oh, and you know how you promised a draft to the committee on May 1? Well it's May 5. You're late, sucker.

Love,
me

I resemble this post. Sometimes I'm awake and answering email or IMing and realize "My alarm is going to go off in 5 hours." That's not as bad as the nights when it's 3.5 hours.

Thanks! But right now your major and prospects sound infinitely more interesting than mine. Which has always been my problem. I could stay in school forevvvver.

Use this as motivation

That's always been my advice (for myself, too) for dealing with all the crap of both grad school and first jobs. Do what you gotta do to get where you wanna be. Hang in there!

It gets better -- I thought I was doomed those first few weeks back when I went back to work and Nevskii thought he would die without me all day. But here we are and it is all good (some would argue it is time for a role shift!). Remember -- 30 days to a habit!
